I have stayed out of this because I do have friends and family on both sides. I do feel strongly that my beliefs do not give me a license to judge…it is not my place to do so. With that said…enough already! Chick-Fil-A has been the same company operating under the same principles and values for nearly 70 years. Most folks only saw the media interpretation and never even read the original interview that got this started. Mr Cathy did not attack anyone or any group of people; he defended his beliefs and explained the guiding principles of his company’s management model and further stated, “We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.” Really? I thought we lived in a country where you could have an opinion too, but apparently I was mistaken. I guess the good news is that everybody is getting another opportunity to get on their soapbox. The media clearly twisted this for headlines (because that’s what media does…there is nothing objective about reporting anymore), politicians postured on it (of course they did…what did you expect?), anyone left of center did not bother to read it before calling their cronies (why read it? That’s what CNN is for right?) and the hard right milked it for all they could get out of it…and then called their cronies (and why wouldnt they?). Amazing to me how we all get on our own little war path for something like this, thumbing each other in the face as though we are all free of sin. Since when did God prioritize sin? We all think we are right yet no side is better or worse at passing judgment. So if you like it, eat mor Chikin and if not, theres always Wendys.
